Project 1 - Stamp
I am going to make a bee stamp, and maybe a stamp with some swirls or flowers on it
Construction Process
For the bee stamp, I made a cylindrical handle and then attached a flat, square piece to one end. On the square piece, I added a body (with carved stripes), a head, and two wings that stuck out enough to leave an imprint on clay. I glazed it in ____________. For my flower stamp, I make a cylindrical handle and attached a flat, circular piece on one end. On that piece, I used a mini extruder to attach a thin spiral, and I put three flower petals, one leaf, and three little dots on it. I glazed this one in ___________.
Comments and Critiques
The stamps turned out pretty good, and they definitely have enough glaze on them, although there might be too much glaze on the bee stamp because some of the details have kind of been covered up, but it's okay. They work very well and leave very clean, nice imprints on clay.
Project 2 - Face
I am making an old man face, with bushy eyebrows, probably a mustache and maybe some type of receding hairline.
Construction Process
I made my face by using the pinch method for the basic structure of the face. Then I hollowed out parts for eye sockets and put in the eyeballs. I added eyelids and brows by adding on shaped lumps of clay and smoothing them onto the face. I also added cheekbones and a big nose. After that I added a mustache (over lips), eyebrows, and sideburns by laying strips of clay and then using a needle tool to add texture. I also dug out parts of the eyes to be pupils, and added lines to make him look older.
Comments and Critiques
He turned out good in my opinion. Some things that I could work on are putting more coats of glaze on my pieces, because he is kind of patchy, and getting glaze everywhere, because there are a few tiny places where there is no glaze. Also, his hair turned out too dark, but it is okay because he still looks fine.
